United Chinese System in Pontifical Urbaniana University, Vatican (UCSPUU)
Brief Introduction

一、Background

During my recent trip to Vatican, I found that all of the 
Chinese language books could not be handled by the library 
automatic systems, such as ALPHE (currently used by most of 
the libraries in the Vatican and Italy at the present time), 
because of the incompatibility of Chinese and Italian. 
Therefore, based on efficiency and cost, I recommend a new system, 
to be called the United Chinese System in Pontifical Urbaniana University, Vatican (UCSPUU), 
for the Chinese collection of the Pontificia Universita' Urbaniana (PUU) library. 
In addition, according to the agreements, the ucsiv will be an independent unit 
connecting to the future main library system via Web (World-Wide Web) interface.
